2024 GMC Canyon Redesign
Looking past the Canyon’s steering wheel, we can see what looks like an attractive wooden feature on the door panels. It appears to be a luxurious wood grain with metal trim peeking out from behind the door camouflage.
If the visible piece is really part of the Canyon’s interior maintenance, then it’s more likely to be part of the high-end trim—likely the Canyon Denali.
The wood treatment appears to represent a much higher standard for GM’s next-generation mid-sized truck, especially when compared to the somewhat lackluster interiors of today’s Colorado and Canyon.

2024 GMC Canyon Expected Changes, Updates, New Features

2024 GMC Canyon Report
The midsize truck segment was heating up when Ford recently unveiled the redesigned Ranger. Not to be outdone, General Motors put the finishing touches on the next-generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon.
One of the trucks was recently spotted undergoing testing in Phoenix, Arizona by CarScoops reader Nicholas and while it’s hard to identify which version it is, it appears to be a redesigned 2024 GMC Canyon.
Dressed in heavy camouflage, the truck features a prominent grille flanked by sleek headlights with a circular lighting unit located underneath. Additional details are hard to see, but it looks like the truck will adopt a more curvaceous design and prominent fender flares, which might indicate this is an off-road-focused AT4 variant.
Camouflage does a good job of hiding details, but the 2024 GMC Canyon is slated to adopt muscular bodywork and a flatter beltline. We can also see vertical taillights and sliding rear windows. Rumors also suggest Canyon could receive a MultiPro tailgate, like the larger Sierra and Hummer EV.
Exterior updates are certainly welcome, but some of the biggest changes will be in the interior. Previous spy photos have shown the truck will be equipped with a new steering wheel and a standalone infotainment system.
The model is also slated to adopt higher quality materials, modern switchgear, and a more sophisticated driver assistance system.
While the 2024 GMC Canyon is currently offered with a wide variety of different engines, rumors have it that the redesigned truck could be offered exclusively with a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
That remains to be seen, but the 2.7-liter engine makes 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 430 lb-ft (571 Nm) of torque in the facelifted Sierra. That’s a huge improvement over the current 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, while also beating the 3.6-liter V6 that produces 308 hp (230 kW / 312 PS) and 275 lb-ft (373 Nm) of torque.

The HVAC and Comfort Canyon controls are integrated into two rows at the bottom of the display cluster, separated by a changing angle from the vertical row above the row of angular buttons. 2024 GMC Canyon Platforms
The third-generation 2024 GMC Canyon will use an updated version of the same GMT 31XX platform used by the second-generation model. The updated architecture will be known as 31XX-2 internally at GM. It will be shared with Chevy Colorado and later.
Before November 2018, GM plans to develop a new platform called the 32XX for the third-generation 2024 GMC Canyon (and Colorado).

We expect the 2023 GMC Canyon in base trim and rear-wheel-drive configurations to start at around $28,000. It could go a bit higher, given that GMC will likely make more safety and tech touches on standard equipment on its next-generation midsize pickup truck.
The 2023 Canyon will likely continue to offer a choice of two cabin sizes and a cargo bed, with optional 4-wheel-drive (4WD) in all trims.
Top-range models like the all-terrain-oriented AT4 or the luxury-themed Denali should start at around $40,000 and $43,000, respectively. We’ll have more precise pricing information in the days to come, so stay tuned and check back often.
